Manufacturing and forming methods of special-shaped steel pipes

Special shape steel pipe is a kind of economic cross section steel tube including non circular cross section, equal-thickness wall, variable wall thickness, symmetrical section, no-symmetrical section, etc. Such as square, rectangle, conical, trapezoidal, spiral, etc. The special shape steel pipe is more suitable for the particular condition of use. And it can save metal and improve the labor productivity of parts and components manufacturing. The method to make special pipe including cold drawing, welding, such as extrusion, hot rolling, cold drawing method has been more widely used.

Special shape seamless steel tube is widely used in all kinds of parts, tools and machinery parts. Can be used as auto parts steel tube , precision spline pipe , gear steel tube steel pipes , PTO shaft steel tube .Compared with those of circular tube section tube, it usually have large moment of inertia and section modulus, have bigger bending torsional capacity, and can greatly reduce the structure weight and save steel.

Shaped seamless pipe forming method

1. Diameter reduction/expansion forming

The shrinkage forming process of the reducer is to put the tube blank with the same diameter as the large end of the reducer into the forming die, and press along the axial direction of the tube to make the metal move along the cavity and shrink into shape.

2. Stamping

The shape of the die used for stretching is designed with reference to the size of the inner surface of the reducer, and the blanked steel plate is stamped and stretched with the die. In the shrinking or expanding deformation pressing process, according to different materials and changing conditions, it is determined to use cold pressing or hot pressing. Under normal circumstances, cold pressing should be used as much as possible, but in cases where repeated diameter reduction causes severe work hardening, where the wall thickness is thick, or where the material is alloy steel, hot pressing should be used.
