40Cr steel belongs to medium carbon alloy structural steel, and the “40″ in its name represents an average carbon content of 0.40%, while “Cr” represents the main alloying element chromium (content 0.80% -1.10%). After quenching and tempering treatment, this type of steel has both high strength and toughness, good hardenability, and is suitable for manufacturing mechanical parts that can withstand moderate loads and impacts.
